I don’t want to get into what abortion is or isn’t with this post. It’s pretty clear what it is. I doubt that deep down many people are willing to argue abortion is anything but an expedient solution to an unintended consequence of sex that without intervention bears the fruit of a human child.
I don’t want to beat anybody up about what they did or didn’t do. My hope is to make this issue clear for those who are currently struggling with this decision. No progress can be made by alienating people for things they have already done. Please don’t use this article to beat up on somebody. But if it can help someone make the right decision, then please share it.
I’m not sure that in another 100 years people won’t look back at this nation today with the same contempt as we currently (and rightly have) about slavery 100 years before us.
Either a person is a person and deserves human dignity, or people can be property and enslaved and destroyed. We need to focus on the right issues, and do what we can to protect all people.
If Killing Was A Hate Crime
For all of the rhetoric from diversity, to inclusion, to love-is-love, you would think that unborn babies would be easily adopted into liberal theory. Who doesn’t love a newborn baby!? The innocence, the miracle of new life, and the vulnerability of this little person touches everyones heart. But unfortunately, the unborn do not get unified support in this nation. It is absurd to take the position that somehow while passing through a birth canal, a person is created, despite the well documented science that development started at conception months before.
Why is it that 8 inches of geography can make or destroy a person? If you are 8 inches north, you are in the womb and not a person. In fact, you are considered property, which the mother can destroy. If you 8 inches south of that line, you are suddenly human? It is lunacy to think like this. History tells us how treating people as property play’s out. This example is just a little more expedient because the bodies are incinerated as medical waste and the consequences are harder to see.
As the dialogue of hate crimes emerges and works through this nation, we must not forget to use this rhetoric to support the unborn, helpless, and innocent who live among us. If a hate crime is a caused by a racial, sexual, or other prejudice, then lets make sure we use this to show the prejudice against the unborn during an abortion.
Isn’t this a Women’s right issue?
What this morally boils down to is property rights. You tell me: Does your body have 2 heads, 4 arms, 4 legs, and 2 sets of organs? Only in this exact issue would a reasonable person claim “yes.” Under any other normal circumstance the answer is “of course not.”
Don’t get me wrong. I am all for women’s rights. I would love to see a strong women Republican or Libertarian win a Presidential nomination and I think people like Meg Whitman, Condoleezza Rice, and many others make great leaders and business people. To me, it isn’t about sex that qualifies or disqualifies a person. It’s their ability to think and lead in combination with a good moral character that makes a person fit for leadership. Women by their design are vessels through which all human life is born. It’s a beautiful, holy, and glorious thing only women get to do. If men got pregnant, I would say the EXACT same things to them.
Abortion isn’t about women. It’s about human life. More specifically, it’s about not making human life property of somebody else. Every person, regardless of where you live, inside or outside of the womb, deserves basic human dignity and has natural rights to life and liberty.
#peoplematter. There isn’t any middle ground.
It’s about life, natural law, and basic human dignity. We must choose as a society to protect all life, or allow some human life to be property. It’s really that simple. The choice starts with the individual. Together, we can elect leaders that can make real change and give real hope to all people.
This is an issue that has no middle ground. The law is morally wrong and the current standard is literally killing people. You can either help save the lives of the unborn, or you tacitly consent to their destruction. Vote and be active in politics. That is how we change things in this country.
There’s a lot of pain
I know a lot of people who will read this has, or knows somebody that has, had an abortion. It is a tough subject to speak bluntly about. But the great news is that we live in a loving society and there is not condemnation for people who repent and change.
Let me state this again: I don’t want to beat anybody up about what they did or didn’t do. My hope is to make this issue clear for those who are currently struggling with this decision. No progress can be made by alienating people for things they have already done. Please don’t use this article to beat up on somebody. But if it can help someone make the right decision, then please share it.
In my experience, it is always best to face your difficulties head on. Problems never go away by making the evidence of them disappear. In the case of an unwanted pregnancy, all I can say is the greatest joy I have ever had comes from my children. If you aren’t ready for them, there are many people out there who are.
